I have read thru several hundred threads on this site trying to get my wireless to work (HP X1000 with intel pro 2100 and Mandrake 9.2). My system would freeze right after displaying "Calling putdriver ioctl". I read the below, pasted thread and I changed my boot options to remove the acpi=ht option.
After doing this, I get one step further. Now I see "parsing inf file", then the system freezes. I am using the downloaded ASUS drivers from this site and I have tried both 0.3 and 0.4 packages.
Any help pointing me further would be most appreciated.

loaddriver freezes HP NX7000/Mandrake 9.2 - enabling ACPI fixes it
The default install of Mandrake 9.2 on the NX7000 doesn't enable ACPI.
When calling loaddriver, it gets as far as printing out
Calling startdriver ioctl
then the machine freezes (no response to keyboard/mouse, cursor stops
blinking - only way out is to use the power button).
The only message in syslog (with debug output enabled) is
ndiswrapper version 0.3 loaded
Enabling ACPI (by removing acpi=ht from the boot options) cures the
problem, and then everything works fine.
