I just finished installing ncpl on a RedHat box, and I'm trying to get it set up for use. I can get the ncpl login page, but when I try to log in as "admin" with password "admin" I keeping getting sent back to the login page. Is the initial admin password something other than "admin"? i tried looking through the perl code to figure out how the plaintext password gets converted to the form that gets written to the database so that I could change the pw to something known, but I haven't found that code yet. -- -------------------------- Dan Mahoney ca...@gm... Here are a couple of feature requests if you can put them in a future revision. 1) We want to turn authentication off in the program because we authenticate all our web Interfaces with the Apache Kerberos module off of our Active directory Servers. We don't want to have a separate username and password for all our Nagios Admins in the program. 2) When making a lot of changes on the Nagios server. It is not very user friendly trying to move around. Once you go into modify services or hosts or what ever. There is not link to get back to the main screen. You need to just keep hitting back on your browser. There should be a link to take you back to the main page with out having to log back in again. Do you have a date on when you will have the software ready to support Nagios 3? There are still a couple of export issues that I am finding when exporting services. There is only one that I had to resolve due to it was a serious issue. In our Distributed monitoring system we don't send all our notifications from the Central Server. We also send notifications from the Distributed servers as well. The problem is when we export our service config and it sees that the notifications are disabled in the template or in the service it just doesn't add that line in the config which activates notifications from the Distributed host and the Central Host. I resolved this by adding a this line to the EXPORT.conf. $PASSIVE_SERVICES_NOTIFICATIONS =3D '1'; Then added this to the Export.pm. Added line 55 $PASSIVE_SERVICES_NOTIFICATIONS); Replaced the print notification line with the following. if( $PASSIVE_SERVICES_OVERRIDE && $isPassive && !($PASSIVE_SERVICES_IGNORE =3D~ $hash_ref->{use}) && (defined $PASSIVE_SERVICES_NOTIFICATIONS and $PASSIVE_SERVICES_NOTIFICATIONS ne '') ) { print $CFG " notifications_enabled $PASSIVE_SERVICES_NOTIFICATIONS\n"; } else { print $CFG " notifications_enabled $hash_ref->{notifications_enabled}\n" if (defined $hash_ref->{notifications_enabled}); } The other issues which I believe will resolve the issue above and the rest of my problems is when you export the services if something is disabled in the template then it doesn't put it into the config. This is a feature request that you add something to the database to use as a flag saying that the template is not a service and print out all the settings for the template. This way if notifications or any other setting is disabled for the template it will be shut off for the service if it's not enabled in the service. There are no 1 or 0 being added to the >>active_checks_enabled or passive_checks_enabled. I have to manually >>make the change to the file in order for this to work properly. I need more info to be able to troubleshoot this problem. Are you using a distributed setup (central nagios display with multiple probes) or a single machine? Are you sure that the passive template override config is correct (EXPORT.conf)? Are you sure that the field active_checks_enabled / passive_checks_enabled are filled in on your templates? Currently I am only configuring a Central Host, and once this is done I will start adding my other nagios servers to be controlled into this host and setup a Centralized Nagios server which will be accepting passive. So right now I am not configuring any passive checks until I get all my active checks working properly first. The information in the Database shows the correct information for all the services, active check enabled and passive checks disabled for all the services. When I export the serives it adds the lines for active_checks_enabled and passive_checks_enabled but with no values. There is just a space behind them and that's it. I am not using templates yet either because I am still trying to learn how to use the interface properly with out documentation. It's a trial and error thing, you know how that works. I am not sure if the EXPORT.conf is configured properly or not. Can you explain it to me maybe that is the problem. I just gave the passive_hosts_override 0 and passive_services_override 0, because I was not sure what they did. >>The problem is in your Export.pm. I'll try to optimise these functions. The values were filled in and the database has the correct values. If you look at the subroutine for isActiveServiceCheckEnabled you check to see if register is set and it's set to 0 and if it's not you go into your else statement which only dieals with DISTRIBUTED servers. I just commented everything out about the distributed servers for right now and added " return $active_checks_enabled;" by it's self in the else statement. This is just so the export works correctly. I did the same for the isPassiveServiceCheckEnabled. There is a better way of doing this but I am sure it will break something in the future when I configure DISTRIBUTED Servers. >>There are also a lot of options on the mail screen which are greyed out. >>The main ones I am interested in are the "Main Configuration file", CGI >>configuration file", "Service Dependencies", and "Service Excalations". >>Is this something you are working on implementing anytime soon or is >>that not going to be available for a while? Hi, This is a known bug (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1508644&group_id= 132836&atid=725755) and will be fixed asap. Kind regards, Yves -----Original Message----- From: ncp...@li... I appreciate the work that you have done, I am just trying to make sure if what you are doing is what you want. I see you are not putting options into the configuration files if the value is 0. If the value is zero then it is probably better to still output that to the configuration file so the default configuration in the nagios.cfg file is not taken. There are some systems that I don't want services activated on and some that I do. If the default is to have it activated then it gets overridden by me flagging it as off and it's turned on by my global config. I have changed the module to print it no matter if it's zero or not. Just thought I would point that out. Thanks ---------------------------------- -----Original Message----- From: ncp...@li...
