    Hello,
I have a series of files that contain 9-hr forecasts. I would like to get the average in the form of the 9-hr series (i.e. dim(result)=9) rather than the average over the whole period (i.e. dim(result)=1). Can that be done with a single command? nrca, other?
    Thanks,
    Mark

please clarify. do you want the average of nine numbers to be reported as nine numbers? i.e., boxcar averaging? or something else? ncra supports sub-cycles in outputting averages...

I want the average of say 100 forecasts at hour=0, hour=1, etc. I just have nco 4.2.0 and Administrator on my system is slow to upgrade. I think there is no way around it with 4.2.0
except writing out hours one by one and concatenating, is there?
    Thanks,
    Mark
