    Dear all,

    I'm wondering whether nco can provide a quick solution to the following problem:
    - I have 1 netcdf file "full.nc" containing a gap-free record of a variable, say air temperature for say one full year ;
    - I have 1 netcdf file "station.nc" containing a record of the same variable but which does not include all records (i.e., it does not contain missing values, but the time coordinate is not continuous in time and some dates are really absent from the file).
    Is there a solution to pick records from full.nc to gap-fill station.nc, or, stated differently, replace values in full.nc with data from station.nc when the corresponding date exists in station.nc ?

    Thanks ahead for any help with this problem.

    Samuel

    Sounds like you want a quick operation to merge and produce a "best of" output from two different inputs.
    There is no such quick merge operation in NCO.
    ncap2 could be programmed to do what you want, though.
