I am a sporadic user of nco operators. I have looking at the documentation but I did not find a clear solution (perhaps I'm wrong). I want to extract data (hyperslab) from a nc file along an arbitrary line, so a sequence of (lon, lat) points. When I apply the ncks over a point of "sst" as for example,
ncks -H -d lon,-14.965 -d lat,40.45 -v sst XXXXX.nc
does return the closest value to such point (14.965,40.45) in the grid (let's say a 2d grid). I can make a loop over a sequence of points defining the arbitrary line and that's find, but I would like to obtain some interpolated data instead of the closest neighbour.
May somebody help me how to find a optimal solution !!.
Thanks in advance
This is a difficult problem in many ways. It is sort of possible with auxiliary coordinates, which you probably are not using. Otherwise, I suggest you see if NCL has a better solution.
