I am ultimately a neophyte, but I am usually pretty good about reading and following directions.
I am having problems getting ncidd to operate correctly.
    When I - make install prefix=usr
ncidd does not seem to find the conf file in /etc
and seems to always start using the default values.
If invoke -C /etc/ncidd.conf when starting the program it reads the conf file specified.
Did I miss something when I made and installed the package?
I guess my real question is are there very specific directions making and installing this package on on Mac OSX?

It's not just you.  It didn't install very well for me on Mac OSX 10.3.4 either.  It assumes that /usr/local/sbin and /usr/local/share exist (among others).  If I get it working, maybe I'll submit some fixes.

The INSTALL file tells how to set up the compile for the programs in /usr and the config file in /etc:

      • make prefix=/usr prefix2=

The default make assumes a Linux /usr/local setup
