    NCIDD runs and logs calls.

NCID and NCIDpop won't connect and display calls.
(I can connect to other services over the LAN like http and ssh but I can't connect to the NCIDD daemon).

I also can't ge the test data to work.
I can run the test data and hit return to send phone messages but NCIDD doesn't receive them.

Can someone suggest something to test?

(This is the first app I've manually installed on Linux. Perhaps I'm missing something).

    Fedora Core 2

I assume you used the RPM packages to install the NCID package on Fedora Core 2, and that you did not change the port address from 3333 (the default). If you did, you will need to configure the clients to use the port address you selected.

The test data provided is for testing clients, not the server. Since NCIDD logs calls, it should be OK.

The easiest test is to run ncid on the same computer running ncidd. Start it from a terminal window as "ncid &". It should connect to ncidd and display the log file entries. Try a call and make sure ncid displays the Caller ID information.

When you run NCID or NCIDpop from another computer, you need to give it the IP address, or DNS name, of the NCIDD server when it starts. Look at the INSTALL directions for NCID and NCIDpop at http://ncid.sourceforge.net/ncid to see how to set up the clients. You will need to substitute your server addresss for 192.168.0.1 used in the examples.

Hope this helps. Let me know what works and what doesn't.

      John
