    Hi,
Ive been running NCID for a couple of years now and all been great, My old ESXI server is so old they have dropped support for it so Ive got a new (To me) Dell R710 with ESXi6.7
Ive installed lubuntu as virtual machine (Like the old one)
    Followed the install instructions
I get an error when trying to start the program

Could you please give me some advise on what to try / where to look next?

    also quick question:
States only NCIDD server is required but in the install for .deb files states it needs the server and client packages? Which is correct?

    Cheers

    Toby

You should start by looking at the server log file, /var/log/ncidd.log
It will tell you what options were set, and what made it give up and exit.

The User Manual has fairly complete instructions, and you will want to disable the ModemManager if is interfering with the modem initialization.

    Hi Ed

Ive done the modem manager alredy as that caused problems with the last one,
I'll have a look in the log file shortly.

    Thank you

Well after checking the log - I had uncommected the wrong line - Doh

    I did this line - # /dev/ttyACM0 # general: USB modem 0
What i needed to do was this- # set ttyport = /dev/ttyACM1 but change the port to 0

Thank you for the help :-)
