I have NCID installed on an always-on Ubuntu desktop, with an external USB modem providing caller ID from the phone line. Many people use a Raspberry Pi for the server.
Several clients are available to show the callers. I prefer to see them on the NCID Android app because I'm always near one of my android devices.
