On systems where Windows Performance counters have become corupted, NC_NEt may either not load or give strange results when counters are used.

THis issue is not actually a problem with the NC_NEt but is a problem with the Standard Windows Performance counters.  personally, I think it is very good that NC_Net is uncovering this issue on the servers,  since it is a windows problem that may have been gone unseen if it was not for NC_Net on the Host.

Users have reported to me the typical source of this corruption typically due to installing particular applications, or loading Images from applications like "Ghost"  (I am not puting any blaim on any particular vender or software, just on rare occations these types of actions are the suspect of causing the problem"

Solution,  Recently an NC_NEt user posted a solution to this issue that looks easy to run,  bellow is his post to this forum to solve this poblem, ANyone please add comments to this post as to your experiences with this issue and resolution.  I have not tested this since I do not have a currupted system but it looks like it should do the job.  Thanks for the post.

Automating this type of fix is outside the scope of NC_NET. The reason for this is because NC_Net provides informaiton of the Windows Host and is not an automated repair tool.

Best of luck,

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I was having this problem and it was painful to track down.
Here's the MS KB article.

On win2k3, cd to "windows\system32" and run "lodctr /R" to rebuild the counters.
