I tried to ask him in the forest but the result is the same?
Does anyone knows how should I ask him?

After he joins your party, exit to the wilderness (the wilderness is the large-scale map where your party appears as a single icon). Use the t)alk command and select your party icon, then select Nate from within your party. If that doesn't work I'll need to see your save file, which you can send to my sf email account.
