-The simple answer to "Why do this project now?" is that until recently I had no idea what I was doing. Until having taken compilers I didn't know how to implement the middle (Translation) section. I had some ideas for the front end, but how I might generate any code was becoming increasingly complicated. Now I feel I know the basic overview (or enough of one) to begin coding, and experimenting with small examples. Also this is the first time both my health, and my time have freed up enough to allow for such a project.
