PDF File created by a Batch Scan Can not be opened by Adobe Acrobat Reader

I can scan to a PDF with out problem, but when I use the batch option I get an error when I try to open it
"Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open 'Scan' because it is either not a supported file type or
because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and
wasn't correctly decoded)."
