**6.0b4 ** is now out. You can use the auto updater (in the About window) to update. If you downloaded OCR in 6.0b1, you will need to click the OCR button and then Download to re-download it.
Some specific things I'd like feedback on:
Linux: whether or not a particular device works (model, feeder or flatbed), general issues
OCR performance: Any regressions from the previous version
Any issues that aren't present in 5.8.2
Known issues:
Copying (Ctrl+C) can be delayed
Auto update crashes on Windows XP
"Check for updates" does not notify of OCR updates
Window layout can be a bit wonky on Linux
Importing non-NAPS2 PDF files doesn't work on Linux
NAPS2.Console --silentsend doesn't work with Gmail/Outlook Web

As in a 6.x change log SMTP mailing is not mentioned, I kindly ask you, will you ever include that feature? It is impossible to send scanned document in comand line mode, if there is no mail client on a machine. Found a post from 2016 mentioned that feature wish. So I'm not alone.
Else, NAPS2 is the best on free market.
Keep on..

Excellent change-log for the upcoming release! A few questions prior my evaluation:
1) Can I update over my previous NAPS2 installation (5.8.2)?
2) If yes (1), does the installation over-write my appsettings.xml file?
3) Does the installer 'include' 64-bit version and install that depending on my W10 system (64-bit)?
Thx!
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
1) Yes, that will work fine.
2) Yes, you should create a backup first if you have made customizations.
3) There's no separate 64-bit version, it's all one. If you have a 64-bit system it will run in 64-bit mode.

For the appsettings.xml, perhaps installer could take care of a back-up for the existing version (just for the sake of better ux :) ). Minor thing and ppl who modify that manually, will mostly make backups anyhow.

I'm having trouble with Tesseract.
I've attached a file with the errorlog and a screen with the error.
this problem did not happen in the previous version
I'm experiencing a new situation now.
After scanning, randomly, the OCR keeps working nonstop.
Even after saving the file, OCR keeps working in the background and never ends.
I have attached photos in chronological order.
1 - after scanning.
2 - saving the PDF.
3 - Finished the creation of the PDF.
4 - Stand-by
and Label detail - And also another detail in the interface to correct (if it was not purposeful).
Perfect, this version does not present problems.
I tested it several times without any problem.
I liked the indication of the page being processed in OCR status.

Noticed that the "Send with Email" Button errors out. I'm not a place where i can attach an error, but i can later on. The stable 5.8.2 worked, and the nightly 5.8.2 doesn't do anything, and the beta gives some type of "null" error. I'll try to provide more info later.

After my initial testing of the 6.0 beta2, following findings:
1) The "Check for updates" in the About dialog would be more logical of being a clickable button (instead of checkbox with autocheck; IMO; If autocheck-on, the upon app launch?) 2) Drag & drop re-ordering scanned pages is not possible (was in 5.8.2) 3) Crop selection has a bug for not remembering the sliders (see image (2)); yes the selection frame itself (1) is remembered 4) It seems that the updater did not overwrite my appsettings.xml (I installed beta2 to same directory the 5.8.2 release) - good!
A few minor Feature requests (for future maintenance releases):
1) The app menu items (Scan, Profiles, OCR...) could auto-open without the need of mouse click? 2) Optionally have small or large icons (and without text) 3) Separate Application settings menu item (not the ones related scanning profiles)
Keep up the great work - the best is getting better!
When scanning and the "Acquiring Data" dialog is show, it should (?) the % value "Percent complete"? Perhaps in the middle of the progress bar as textual value?

For future, it might be good to prompt on saving scanned pages prior updating (despite it recovered my scan after successfull update :) < thumbs-up
About OCR functionality: seems to be a bit faster
Dropped in a PDF-file and NAPS2 prompted: "An additional component is needed..." < could give a bit more details of WHAT component, it was a bit confusing. After downloading and installing, PDF-file rendered OK in NAPS). Same for first time cropping an imported PDF-file...
The menu items (Image, Rotate...) do not yet auto-open (yeah, not in a hurry for that)
About dialog could state "beta" somewhere for Beta releases (very minor)

Hi Ben!
i can not use it anymore over commandline without a scanner device, is there any trick?

You could sort this little detail (attached).
I have already completed the PT-BR translation.
I'm going to test this new version from today.
I'm having trouble with Tesseract.
I've attached a file with the errorlog and a screen with the error.
this problem did not happen in the previous version

Try installing this and see if it fixes the issue:

worked, thank you
I'm experiencing a new situation now.

If you click on "Running OCR" then click Cancel, does it stop?
Also, can you attach your errorlog.txt (www.naps2.com) file here?
It is not possible to stop,
Also no error is generated in errorlog.txt
Could you try the attached version and see if it fixes the problem? If not, please check for an error log in the Data folder.

Ignore my comment. I may have jumped the gun. I'll have to do some more investigating.
Ben, I have time for testing starting from Sun eve, shall you make "beta2" by that time or should I just take the first beta?

Bugs (2) and (3) should be fixed in 6.0b3. For (1), the idea is it will check on launch (but only every 7 days).
Another minor finding:
When scanning and the "Acquiring Data" dialog is show, it should (?) the % value "Percent complete"? Perhaps in the middle of the progress bar as textual value?
