I have a scanner with a document feeder (HP ScanJet 6300C) that I
rescued from a dumpster - it has proved fast, invaluable and very reliable.

However, the software needs XP as a maximum (it is possible to fake it
up under Win 7 32bit but after the machine that I ran Win 7 32bit on
lost the magic smoke I cannot spare another system).

So, I run "XP MODE" (a virtual machine running XP) on my 64bit Win 7 and
want to run NAPS2 on it.

I can get NAPS2 v6.1.2 to run on it if I also install .NET v4.0 but with
the USB scanner "attached" to the VM NAPS2 sees the scanner and I can
create a profile but it cannot drive the scanner (there is no error
    message).

NAPS2 also cannot import a .jpg image file, it allows me to select the
file but gives no error message and displays nothing.

BTW I can install the HP software in the same setup and that works
flawlessly, but I would by far prefer to use NAPS2.

Have I got the wrong version of NAPS2 or the .NET runtime ??

What am I missing here ??

    Regards,
    Bob

I downloaded and installed the latest v5.x (v5.8.2) and it worked.
I also tried v6.1 and that failed the same as v6.1.2.
So it is incorrect to say that the last version to support XP SP3 is v6.1.2.
It's a real shame as 6.x has some very usefull upgrades :-(
