Although the 3.0 and 3.5 .NET Framework versions share the same 2.0 runtime, the 3.5 has its own MSBuild.exe of a newer version, capable of building the Visual Studio 9.0 projects. There should be a way to launch the MSBuild 3.5 version rather than 2.0.
