i want to read out the mac-adress and the serial number of new pcs. they are preinstallades with windows 8 but they will be formatted. For the Deployment we the mac-adress and serial number of the pc for inventory. As booting nanolinux is very fast i should be good choice. Now i need a script to read out the mac-adress and the serial number. I know dmidecode should do the trick. But how do i embed it to the livecd?
I hope everyone understands my request and i hope someone will show me a way to get the solution.
Tanks a lot

I guess the "ideal" solution would be to "remaster" the CD and put dmidecode in the startup script. So as soon as Nanolinux has booted it displays the mac-address and serial number. You would not need the desktop for that, the output could be on the console screen.
You could also make a new extension with dmidecode in it and write that on the CD using UltraISO or put Nanolinux on a flash disk for that.
I can provide instructions for that but please drop me an email, I do not want to do that for someone anonymous.

The version 1.3 includes dmidecode now. You can select "Settings->Show system information" from the "Start" menu to see the mac-address and the serial number of the system.
