Welcome to Nagios Proxy.

Nagios Proxy is designed to solve an issue that arose when trying to combine the tool VoIPmonitor with Nagios.

VoIPmonitor does work with Nagios but only when both are located on the same system.
The reason for this is that VoIPmonitor changes the Nagios configuration dynamically and sends passive status updates to it. Clearly, for this to work, both services need to share the same host.

A setup I didn't like and that Nagios Proxy resolves.
Although Nagios Proxy is designed to work with VoIPmonitor, it is quite possible that other software interfaces with Nagios in a similar manner and can use Nagios Proxy likewise.

Nagios Proxy consists of two daemons.
One runs on the system which hosts Nagios and interfaces with it like VoIPmonitor would.
The other one runs on the system which hosts VoIPmonitor and offers the same interfaces as Nagios.
