Actually, I lied. I read "current_notification_numer" as "current_attempt", and thought that for some reason I wasn't updating that. Well, I am, and like you say, I'm not touching current_notification_number. I think the reason I'm not is because I didn't find it important. It's in the schema because at some point every possible metric was in the schema, and I whittled them down to what I thought mattered. This wasn't one of them, but apparently I forgot to delete it. I guess the question to ask is: how is this useful data to see? If we cared about notifications at all, why not register for notification events and simply record those?
