Hello, I am very happy for this project. I'm using myTemp a few days with a good feelings. On older, one stable version 3.10 is good handling, but one thing announced on new version 4 is missing. I would like the power - saving feature, sleeping between readings. So, in general, all of current functionality of 3.10 is an optimal configuration for general use. My opinion is, that for new version is good idea keeping full functionality from version 3.10 and adding power save mode and a little improvement of file output. I currently use order: Synchonizing Memos with PC (WinXP, standard Hotsync + PalmDesktop), export memo to .txt, open with Excel and select the rule for table from text file reformatting. It goes good, i`m satisfied, but any direct .csv generation would be better. But i dont know, if it is possible, and has a sence (I'm a HW designer, not SW developer). Also timing errors on 3.10 verson found, but it is not a big problem :-) How is today project state about version 4? Thank you for your work and enthusiasm. Have a nice day. Martin |

Hi, i found this useful SW/HW on the net. The SW I've installed on a Palm T|X but without hardware it makes only a softreset. Before i build the hardware i want to know if the SW is running with my device? There is also no demo in the zip-file to test. Udo -- "Feel free" – 10 GB Mailbox, 100 FreeSMS/Monat ... How is the resultant data presented? The software searches for attached devices every time it is started. You have a Pop-Up List on the left hand side of the temperature display, which lets you sel ect the sensor you want to have displayed. When logging, the software iterates through all the attached sensors and reads e veryone. The table of logged values contains three columns: Date/Time, Sensor# a nd temperature value. Note: The current version is 3.10 (3a9 is outdated) which contains a work around for a bug in PalmOS 5. (It should make no difference with the m105 though.) Firstly I must congratulate you on what I feel is a very useful applicatiýon of the Palm. I have been interested in Dallas Semiconductors "One Wire" devices since they were introduced and recently used them in a project at work. Unfortunately I'm not well versed in software so couldn't get them to communicate myself. I also have recently discovered the Palm M105 and am amazed at it's capabilities. I read that "Version 3a9 of the myTemp software supports up to ten sensors", which is one of my requirements. I know that all the devices are connected in parallel; does the software automatically scan and find multiple sensors or do we have to change some settings? How is the resultant data presented? Many thanks, Abdullah S. Eyles, Ankara, Turkey _________________________________________________________________ Dont just search. Find. Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

The temperature range might be a problem. Maybe you will be able to reach 110=B0C by using a modified interface circuitry like shown here: http://www.lax.priv.at/digitemp/ (Page is German language, but the scheme should be international understandable. ;-) ) I never tried the modified circuit, so I'm curious. Please tell me, if it works when you tried it. Regards, Christof --=20 And any time you got the Pope and the Dixie Chicks against you,=20 your time is up. |

There's a hardware bug in the Tungsten T3's serial port, that makes it impossible to turn off hardware handshaking on the T3s. (T1 and T2 are supposed to work ok.) A workaround is to connect Pin 6 an 7 on the 9-Pin SubD connector (Pin 13 and 15) on the Palm Handheld A connector. Christof |

Hi Rob, for the Sony Clies you have to differentiate between the 300, 320, 500, 610, 710, 770, 'S' and 'N' series Clies on the one hand and the T, NR, SJ, SL, NX on the other. The first have normal RS232 serial ports (like the PalmInc/PalmOne's), a Resistor is needed between pin 12 and 13 to change from USB to serial port. The later have only crippled serial Ports with 3.3V-TTL signals. (Same as the Visors.) Please verify this information, I have none of the mentioned devices.
