Thanks Chris, haven't quite figured out the forums here yet but I've moved this discussion over to Tracker, hope that's ok.

Are you saying that the Favorites function can be duplicated in the advanced search features, and is no longer necessary? Not sure how I'd accomplish my principal goal in using the software without some sort of favorites list, so this is a bit confusing...

    By the way, is there some way to monitor Tracker requests and be notified of responses?

    I think so, the old Favorites function/search just matches text AFAIK, e.g. its like an advanced search with Category=All, First Occurance & Titles/Subtitle Only NOT checked, nothing in the channel field and an OR symbol (|) between each favorite.

    As the next version of My Telly will support exact title matches when double-quotes are used (e.g. "Crash") and in addition to the current "First Occurance" and "Title/Subtitle Only" checkbox search options adds these:

    * HD (High Def)
    * FirstRun/New
    * Closed Caption

    So, I'd envision that large lists of Favorites could be better accomplished by a few/several saved advanced searches (e.g. each search looking for a couple/few dozen exact title matches & any of the checkboxes). Then you'd be able to "Run All searches" once a week or so to look for its. Add selected ones to schedule using checkbox on program & print a schedule for the week.

    Thanks Chris. Might be easier if I explain my situation. I'm hearing-impaired and unable to understand the dialog in movie theaters. So I'm forced to wait until movies appear on the premium channels (HBO etc) with closed captioning. In the meantime, I track current movie reviews and keep a text-file list of titles that look interesting.

    That list contains about 500 titles, and is updated several times a week as I run across new reviews and delete titles that have now appeared on TV.

    It seems that searching this list of titles would be awfully cumbersome when broken down into individual searches that would have to be continually updated with additions and deletions, although obviously the exact title match would be extremely helpful. Am I missing something?

    Thanks again!

    OK - Looks like an edit box, like the one for Favorites, would be nice for Advanced searches.
    Basically, it would expose current Favorites-style creation/editing for the Search text portion of Advanced searches. This would help editing ORed lists, esp. large ones.

    Chris, just want to point out that while merging the favorites and advanced searching is probably a good idea, that favorites also ties into the grid UI. The ability to easily add a favorite by right-clicking on a show and adding it instead of having to edit a search was a feature I used a lot. Also, items in the grid are starred when part of the favorites search. While it isn't a perfect system, will it be missed?
