#1 Use MDS to handle list of servers

During a meeting at LBL in May 2002 I expressed my
thought to use file catalogs to map from a logical
name of the server, to a physical name that included
host and port.

Doug suggested to use MDS instead. It is more
appropriate, and it seems I should be able to store
more information there.

I could think of storing also other attributes, such
as type (master/slave) and a reference to the master
DB if slave. The GUI would basically retrieve that
information, and provide a simple tool to check if the
database network reflects what is stored in MDS.
