[Mysqlcppapi-main] Automake?

I'm running on a debian sarge system and the links to /usr/share/automake-
1.9 don't exist.  I have the packages autotools-dev and pkg-config install
but neither of them include an automake.  I even did a find / -print | grep
-i automake.  No go.

Somehow I don't think this package is very universal.
