[Mysql-cocoa-users] GPL and Mysql-cocoa

Hi,

I just read that the mysql-cocoa framework is licensed under the GPL.  
This means that the following clause is implied: -

You must cause any work that you distribute or publish, that in whole  
or in part contains or is derived from the Program or any part  
thereof, to be licensed as a whole at no charge to all third parties  
under the terms of this License.

This effectively means that it is illegal to derrive commercial  
software from the framework. Is this the intention of the author? If  
so then is there a way I can license the framework for use in some  
commercial software?
