New MyPhotos2 version released
---------------------------------
Version 0.1.1 beta of MyPhotos2 has just been released. The new version
includes namy features already available in MyPhotos, but not in MyPhotos2.
Well, you have about no reason not to change to the new version now. :)
Most noticeable new features are tracking of views, posts, etc., tracking of
logins, 'new photo/comment' feature. Also, I improved the support for
MyPhotos sites (beckwards compatibility) an made some minor bug fixes.

Translation help needed
---------------------------------
MyPhotos1 is available in 7 different langueages. Well, I want MyPhotos2 to
have even more! Already included in 0.1.1 are dutch, english and (a not
fully complete version of) spanish.
Do you weant to help MyPhotos2 get even better? Translate the language file
into your own language! Just edit the text and send it to me. I will publish
them on the MyPhotos website, as well as include them into the next release.

[MyPhotos General Mailing List] MyPhotos2 0.1.0 beta released

Hi everyone!

Finally, the first version of MyPhotos2 has been released. Due to server and
network problems at home, it has been delayed a bit, and the official site
still isn't online, but you are subscriped to the mailing list, so you'll
have acces anyhow. :)

What about it? Well, it's the first release, so don't expect everything to
be in it. Aditionally, it has been tested only on my own computers, so any
system/software specific bugs can be in it. However, that what a beta
version is for, right? ;) Some cool new thing are included already,
including new thumbnail generation (with ImageMagick), template system,
rating of photos, sorting and xhtml/css compatibility. More to come...

Things not yet in the new version: statistics, administrator interface,
searching, smileys and a bunch of minor features.

[MyPhotos General Mailing List] Problem uploading pictures

Hi all, 

I have a small problem uploading pictures to my server.
It's a Redhat 7.3 running Mysql 3.23.51, apache 1.23-14, and php-mysql
4.1.2-7.

When I try to upload from the script, I get a choose "web or local",
despite I did choose local all the time. 

Any suggestions

Uploaded photos security
--------------------------
A user of MyPhotos contacted me about a small security bug found. If you
upload photos from you hard drive to the site, the script puts all the
photos in the /uploaded directory. Therefor, if a site visitor surfs to
http://your.site.domain/your/site/dir/uploaded/ it can see all the photos
that are put in this directory. This is caused because of the absence of an
index page.

It might be so that a visitor is now able to see photos that he isn't
aloowed to. To solve this problem, put a blank text file in your /uploaded
directory and name it index.php . Now, users that tries to surf to your
photos dir will see an empty page and not the photos you were trying to hide
from them.

Wrong cookie set
------------------
The most common question about MyPhotos is about the cookie. This cookie
makes it possible to log in and out from the site. Some users got the
following error message:

    Warning: setcookie() expects parameter 3 to be long, string given
    in /home/user/public_html/myphotos/checkpassword.php on line 14

    Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output
started
    at /home/user/public_html/myphotos/checkpassword.php:14)
    in /home/user/public_html/myphotos/checkpassword.php on line 20

This is caused by a newer version of PHP (so if you upgrade, you might get
this error), using IIS web server or a combination of this. Anyway, it can

[MyPhotos General Mailing List] Version 1.0 released today

Hello everyone,

It's finally here: version 1.0 of the MyPhotos script. This release is the
final version of the current MyPhotos series. This means that we will only
release new version with bug fixes, not with new version.

However, work on MyPhotos will not be stopped. A whole new series of
MyPhotos will be programmed, from scratch. It will take some time before we
will launch MyPhotos2 0.1.0, but with your help, we can make the best image
gallery for the web.

If you want to upgrade your MyPhotos version, rememver to back up all your
