Earlier versions of MyCouncil had the ability to refresh itself on a regular basis (every 10 seconds at one point). Combine this with all of the content being dynamically allocated to the screen resulted in an unexpected side effect. If you changed any of the JSON details, like councillors switching parties, it reflected itself neatly on the screen, with the ward changing colour. Likewise it reflect itself smoothly in the council breakdown totals. And again when setting up the wards you could display one ward at a time, add a ward and take away a ward, all being redrawn nicely on the screen.
That functionality is currently disabled. With a bit of work we can re-enable it, start with a JSON devoid of councillor details and then slowly repopulate the JSON with councillor details. The effect would be to see, over a period of time, the map automatically draw and colour the wards, show the councillors for those wards and update the breakdown table. This would be a neat feature for elections, both for those watching from home and might also work blown up onto a big screen for the night.
