Hi, hoping someone has seen this problem.
I was using mediaMVP with replayTV. I had no problems. I have since created two instances of DVArchive on one computer, now you do not see that dvarchive anymore on the MVP. Another computer I only have one instance of DVA, but I have 2 ip addresses assigned to the NIC, and it is not found by the MVP. I have another computer, with one instance of DVA and only one ip for the NIC and it shows up fine.
Any one have any idea what the problem might be?
Can you post your network config and your command line for starting DVArchive.
I'll try to reproduce the problem.
Another user posted about a similar problem a month or so ago.
Thanks for looking in to this.
I have a netgear router FVS318. I have 2 separate switches plugged into the router. One gigabit and one 10/100. I have DHCP disabled on the router, all connections on the lan have static ips. The ips are all 192.168.0.xxx with the router being .1. I am using subnet 255.255.0.0 ( I cannot honestly remember why I went away from 255.255.255.0). I have 2 replays (5040), and 3 MVPs all running mvpmc, and 3 computers running DVA. I use Windva running as a service to start dva automatically. I do not think I am using any command line switches, but each instance of WinDVA is running a different profile of dva with a different storage folder. The dva that does show up is on win2000 with a single ip and single dva. I have one xp with two ips assigned to the NIC with one dva. I have one win2000 with two ips assigned to the NIC and two instances of windva, each running one instance of dva.
I hope that was what you were asking for.
Thanks again and mvpmc is the greatest!
I reproduced the problem.
When configuring a 2nd IP (alias) DVA sends
out its discovery response with a source IP address
matching the box's primary addr not the alias addr.
The response does say to use the alias addr for requesing xml info.
mvpmc attempts to get DVA's xml info from the primary addr which is rejected.
I'll try to fix it this week.
Thanks John! and where is the link for contributions??
It should be fixed now.
You can get a load from the mvpmc downloads page.

Let me know if you have an issues.
I will give it a try as soon as I get home this afternoon. I really appreciate it.
Every time I start the select the replaytv (so that it starts looking for available devices) it shows a different subset of my devices. Sometimes it shows 2 sometimes 5, ...
Occasionally it shows one with (unavailable) next to it, I click back, select replaytv, it searches and immediately finds that one, or not.
Anyway, I have no problem restarting so that it finds the one I am looking for.
Thanks for your efforts, and this great software
Sounds like I messed something up huh.
How many replays does you have?
Does it (sometimes atleast) discover your
DVArchive that uses the IP alias?
Also, is it only DVArchive boxes that are not discovered consistantly?
Are your real replaytv boxes always discovered correctly?
I have 2 replays. 3 computers with dvarchive. (of those 1 with one
instance, one with 2 instances, and 1 with 5 instances.) I use that many
instances primarily because the replays slow down when I access a dva with a
lot of programs and for mvpmc, its easier to search through a smaller number
It always shows the RTVs except, about every 5-6times it crashes, and then I turn the box of and back on. Yes, it definitely finds the aliases some of the time. In fact, with the
exception when it only shows the 2 replays, it always shows at least
one alias. I don't think it has found all instances at the same time.
Let me know what other info I can give you. And Thanks again,
The issues should be fixed with the following load.
Let me know how it goes.

The new build works great and consistent. And thanks for the added feature of sorting alphabetically, that helps alot.
