Hello, I'd like to get your advise regarding the use of multiple keys with IndexingXPathNavigator class. Actually, I wish to combine couple of key into same "Select" statment. To something like this .... _inav.AddKey("Rel1", "/Data/QueryResults[@name='Rels']/row", "@DEFUID | @UID1"); It doesn't work obviously. Can anyone think of a way to achieve this? Thanks!, Baruch |

Well, it's a shame, but looks like it's not supported. We need to modify AddKey() to allow compiled XPath expressions too. As a workaround you could use prefix-free expressions: inav.AddKey("aptKey", @"*[local-name='AirportHeliport' and namespace-uri='aixm namespace']/*[local-name='identifier' and namespace-uri='gml namespace']", "."); -- Oleg Rich Neidballa wrote: > > Hello: > > I would really like to use the Mvp.Xml for a project I am on, but am > having some difficulty. Hello: I would really like to use the Mvp.Xml for a project I am on, but am having some difficulty. I have gotten the examples off of MSDN to work, but can't seem to get it to work with the types of XML files I am dealing with. The XML have various namespaces and prefixes for elements and attributes. The problem occurs when I call the ".BuildIndexes()" method. Here's the code fragment: public static void SelectFromIndexingXPathNavigator(XPathNavigator nav) { XmlNamespaceManager xmln = GetNamespaceMgr(nav.NameTable); IndexingXPathNavigator inav = new IndexingXPathNavigator(nav); //inav.AddKey("orderKey", "orders", "@OrderID"); inav.AddKey("aptKey", @"//aixm:AirportHeliport/gml:identifier", "gml:identifier"); string test = "key('aptKey', '2443')"; inav.BuildIndexes(); // <-------Error here XPathNodeIterator order = inav.Select(test); //Check if the order was selected if (!order.MoveNext()) throw new InvalidOperationException("Airport not found."); } I get an error as follows: "Namespace Manager or XsltContext needed. This query has a prefix, variable, or user-defined function." I don't see a way to get the Namespace Manager into the IndexingXPathNavigator class for the BuildIndexes() method? Thanks. Hi Oleg, Thanks for your reply. I feel kinda stupid, I was indeed missing the ExsltContext object. I thought my code broke on the call to Compile(), while it was in fact the call to Select(). The reason was obviously the missing ExsltContext object. Hi, I'm in the process of implementing the Mvp.Xml library into my project. I'm having trouble precompiling xpath expressions that use namespace prefixes. If I specify the namespace prefix in the xpath expression, I get the exception "Namespace Manager or XsltContext needed. This query has a prefix, variable, or user-defined function.". If I leave out the prefix, the expression does not return the nodes I expect, so I do need to specify a namespace in my xpath query. Am I overlooking something? Thanks! yep - understood - not in the spec. i am also looking for comments on how others are dealing with this issue. is this not a common problem? i plan on supporting the ability to define a configuration file (index.xml.config) associated with the xml document (index.xml) and resolve this at runtime. shaky? > Message: 1 > Date: Wed, 15 Mar 2006 17:02:44 +0200 > From: Oleg Tkachenko <ol...@tk...> > Organization: BluePhoenix Solutions > To: Mike Amundsen <ma...@ya...> > CC: mvp...@li... > Subject: Re: [mvp-xml-help] about credentials for xinclude > > No, XInclude defines no ways to provide user credentials in a > declarative way. > > |

If I don't call MoveToContent() but do ReadInnerXml() directly then the virtual root element _and_ the nodes in the node iterator are serialized. I hoped it would only serialize the nodes in the iterator as those should be the child nodes of the virtual root element. What I am looking for is the proper and easiest way to pass in an XPathNodeIterator from somewhere and serialize all nodes in the iterator. -- Martin Honnen http://JavaScript.FAQTs.com/ |

Yeah, that sounds a bit weird. I believe you shouldn't call to iteratorReader.MoveToContent(); here. What it should perform in a nodeslit with virtual root node? I believe what it does - it moves to the first node. But why iteratorReader.Name is still gods - god knows why :) Might be a bug. Take sources and figure out what's going on there. -- Oleg Martin Honnen wrote: > Hi there, > > I am trying to get somehow familiar with parts of the MVP XML library. > > I am having some trouble to understand how XPathIteratorReader is > supposed to work, if I use ReadInnerXml() on it I do not get the result > I expect (XML of all nodes of the iterator) but only the XML of the > first node. > > Assume example XML is alike > > <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> > <gods> > <god>Kibo</god> > <!-- All for Kibology --> > <god>Xibo</god> > </gods> > > then with a normal XmlTextReader and ReadInnerXml() I can do e.g. > > XmlTextReader xmlReader = new XmlTextReader(args[0]); > xmlReader.MoveToContent(); > Console.WriteLine("Current node type: {0}, current name: {1}", > xmlReader.NodeType, xmlReader.Name); > Console.WriteLine("ReadInnerXml():\r\n{0}", xmlReader.ReadInnerXml()); > xmlReader.Close(); > > and the output is > > Current node type: Element, current name: gods > ReadInnerXml(): > > <god>Kibo</god> > <!-- All for Kibology --> > <god>Xibo</god> > > that is ReadInnerXml() in the example gives me the serialized XML of all > child nodes of the root element gods. > > Now I thought the following use of XPathNodeIterator would give the same > result: > > XPathDocument xmlDocument = new XPathDocument(args[0]); > XPathNavigator xPathNavigator = xmlDocument.CreateNavigator(); > XPathNodeIterator nodeIterator = xPathNavigator.Select(@"*/node()"); > > XPathIteratorReader iteratorReader = new > XPathIteratorReader(nodeIterator, "gods"); > iteratorReader.MoveToContent(); > Console.WriteLine("Current node type: {0}, current name: {1}", > iteratorReader.NodeType, iteratorReader.Name); > Console.WriteLine("ReadInnerXml():\r\n{0}", > iteratorReader.ReadInnerXml()); > iteratorReader.Close(); > > Result for me with .NET 1.1 and MVP XML library 1.2 is however: > > Current node type: Element, current name: gods > ReadInnerXml(): > <god>Kibo</god> > > > Is that the intended result?
