Split&Concat 1.0b5 Released

Freeware utility to split or recombine large files (for use with internet newsgroups or if your file is too large to put on one CD). In Internet newsgroups large files often are split into smaller parts since messages can not be of more than a certain size to be able to post them in newsgroups. For that reason you can find often binary files that are split in parts like filename.mp3.001, filename.mp3.002, filename.mp3.003 etcetera. It is possible to put these parts together using commands in the Terminal yet not everybody is handy with that. That is why I decided to create a small utility with the OS X interface that makes it easy for people to split large files to be uploaded, or to put together split files downloaded from the Internet. You can also use it to divide very large files over several CD's. For further information visit Split&Concat's homepage at http://www.xs4all.nl/~loekjehe/Split&Concat/.
Changes in beta 1.0b5:
Drag and drop (to the program icon in the Finder or in the Dock) has been enabled with "smart detection" if you want to split or concat;
Added the option to choose an Output Folder for the resulting files;
Progress indicator now functions to show the state of the process;
Added a "Forced Quit" button to interrupt the process at any time. Split&Concat is licensed under the general Open Source BSD license conditions. This program is in beta version. Use it entirely at your own risk! It can still contain bugs! I don't accept any reliability for any damage that might have been caused to your software, files or hardware or other properties by using this program. If you don't agree to this: don't use this program. Split&Concat is part of the Mutsu project on Sourceforge.net.
Made forward compatible with the new AppleScript 1.8.2 version (to arrive in March 2002).

If you don't agree to this: don't use this program. The Mac PAR OS X project develops only the the Mac OS GUI. It is part of the Mutsu project on Sourceforge.net. The actual PAR program has been developed in the Parchive project on sourceforge.net and is also licensed under the BSD license conditions. http://parchive.sourceforge.net/
What's new in this version 1.0b3: - Fixed a bug that crashed the program on closing the About box - Fixed a bug that added unnecessary slashes in the Par filenames - Made MacPAR compatible with the new AppleScript version 1.8.2b1 (to arrive in March 2002) and checked for backwards compatibility with AppleScript 1.8.1. - Removed unnecessary files from the application bundle.

Changes: What's new in this second beta version 1.0b2: -Drag and Drop is now enabled. In this version it is limited to drag and drop to the program icon on the desktop, to the icon in a folder or placed in the Dock (not yet to the program window itself). - Added a preference panel with several options: - now the user can choose how many PAR archives must be created; - check for duplicate files; - check for faulty filenames; - old PAR archives can now be moved out of the way; - option for case insensitive filenames. - Improved checking for existing PAR- files (so that they will not be included in a new PAR archive). - Possibility to add individual files (drag and drop mode only) to an existing archive. - Possibility to select individual files to be placed in an archive (drag and drop mode only). - Now the window close button will close the window and quit the program. - Now also files can be archived with an extension of less (or more) than three digits (e.g. .x or .xx) - The activity indicator will now show the name of the file or archive that is processed. Bug fixes: - fixed a bug that caused PAR files to be not found, because of "faulty" characters in the name of the file or of the folder path.

Welcome to the Mutsu Project!

Mutsu is a repository for Applescript Studio applications and code snippets. Developers can submit and update projects via CVS (this means directly from Project Builder) and use the Mutsu mailing list to coordinate their efforts. All submitted material is subject to the BSD license. Users can download Applescript Studio applications via HTTP and anonymous CVS. We hope that the Mutsu project will foster the creation and distribution of open source Applescript Studio projects.
