#17 MUTE test case suite with GCC 3.4

Here's a patch to fix some GCC 3.4 compilation issues
within the MUTE test case suite. I've also patched some
test suite code to fix a (very minor) minorGems API
change involving Thread::sleep (now Thread::staticSleep).

The layers/pointToPoint library component of MUTE seems
to be broken, along with testMessageRouter (in
layers/messageRouting/test). I'll try to fix these
sometime later.
