I am running Linux version X86, have it up 24/7 now. I
don't care if I have to write a cron job to kill it
every hour and restart it, so concentrate on features!
(it's crashed twice in a hour, so what, it just
restarts anyway)
Needs to say if a upload completed totally if possible
Failed downloads should be saved as partial so it can
be finished later
WHERE ARE DOWNLOADS STORED? Why can't I say to where?
Show EXACTLY where the shared files are coming from,
show exactly where the downloads go.
Make sure there are safeguards against sharing your /
or home dirs completely!
You should enforce as a network rule that everyone must
be sharing files, and or use like bittorrent some way
to do tit for tat sharing or some ratio
A better way to get a seed IP to get on nees to be created
Save good working IP's in a file, as many as you can so
you can restart this easily without swamping the "seed"
IP source.
Multi searchs can run at same time
Partial file sharing
Show connections being tried also, so you know it's
trying to connect.
Use the network to find more IPs even if node is busy,
have it send you some IPs so you don't bog down "seed"
servers.
Linux script to start - restart it if it needs it (like
99% CPU usage triggers it, or too much memory used)
cron job maybe?
Use a wiki page so people can post code and correct
stuff and who knows what else.
Provide source code that will compile on RH and
Mandrake without installing any extra RPMs so people
will feel comfortable about running this.
The concept is good, much better than Gnutella, those
guys won't listen to anything like this, now lets get
rid of any politics like on the GDF and all will be great!
Thanks, and I will do what I can to support this if you do!
