It would be really cool to use mute same as mldonkey on old
machines.
Nowaday everyone owns some old computer. I found cool using
mldonkey as a daemon on 486 managed by mulinux without
monitor and other equipment and with a 120GB-hardisk (yep, linux
bypass bios limits about hardisk, all versions). As you know
mldonkey can use graphical frontends to file-sharing machine from
other pc in the same lan, both windows and linux machines.
I've not enough experience to give you advices, but it's maybe a
good point to start to write frontends in java or python
(multiplatforms) but keep the program out of these language (as
you have done till now, for security and efficiency, I imagine).
There is another reason to do it: an old machine with a removable
hardisk is easier to "clean" (as phisically destroying the hardisk
dedicated, not so expensive nowaday and better than joint).
Of course it sounds complicated, but that is your task, somebody
else (me too) could assemble a light dedicated linux minidistro that
could be used by less experienced user (usually windows users).
Thanx for your attention.
Good luck ;-)
