MuPAD-Combinat / News: Recent posts

On behalf of this MuPAD-Combinat team, I am pleased to announce the release of
MuPAD-Combinat 1.3.2 (stable). Among many other improvements and new
features (see below), MuPAD-Combinat is now fully functional on all platforms (Linux, MacOS X, Windows, Zaurus).

MuPAD-Combinat is an open-source algebraic combinatorics package for
the Computer Algebra System MuPAD. Its main features are:
* classical combinatorial classes such as partitions or tableaux;
* classical combinatorial algebras such as symmetric functions;
* tools for building user defined combinatorial classes and algebras.

After almost five years of existence, MuPAD-Combinat has reached its
cruise speed with a team of 16 developers and contributers on
board. On behalf of this team, I am pleased to announce the release of
MuPAD-Combinat 1.3.0 (stable). Among many other improvements and new

MuPAD-Combinat is an open-source algebraic combinatorics package for
the computer algebra system 2.0.0 and higher. Its main purpose is to
provide an extensible toolbox for computer exploration, and foster
code sharing between researchers in this area.

I (Nicolas) spent some time building a MuPAD-Combinat live CDROM (based on Morphix/Knoppix/debian). With it, you can take any (not too old) PC, reboot from the CDROM, and you get in 5 minutes a machine running xmupad 2.5.3 (or mupacs: mupad inside emacs) under a standard GNU/Linux + KDE environment. Of course the MuPAD-Combinat package is automatically loaded :-) Most important, this does not modify anything on the PC's hard drive, so it's safe to use anywhere. There is also about 200 Mo left on the CD to include standard distributions of, say, MuPAD, MuPAD-Combinat, texmacs, or mupacs.... read more
