#527 Audio wizard: help and links for windows' mic settings

I've noticed that many people have hard time finding the correct mic input volume and boost settings. I know a couple of cases that users have mistaken the mic output volume for the recording volume slider and I bet there are lot of these cases out there (especially in XP). Also the boost setting for XP is hard to find (thats the one with output settings!). Of course XP is the problem here but it needs solving.

Would it be possible to add links in the audio wizard that would open the Windows sound control panel.

Also some more help for finding the correct mic input volume page would be great. Emphasis on the recording settings etc.

good idear but might be hard to obtain, since Windows is not Windows. A helpfile for XP looks diffrent then one on Vista and so on.
Addtional Im not shure if the source code would be easy to maintain for other OSs like Mac or Linux. But I think a linux user can easaly spot a help file for a Windows User...

Yeah thats true, Mumble would need some OS identification and there would still be some motherboard/sound card-specific audio control panels.

Nevertheless I think this would really help mainstream users with Mumble.

Sounds like it might make more sense to offer the OS controls inside of Mumble itself. As stated previously by kruegerfreddy the interfaces can look quite different from driver to driver.
