Alternate codecs possible?

We (the World of Mumble) used Speex, and are now shifting to CELT. Some
clients aren't going to update quickly, and I imagine all participants in a
channel must use the same codec. So: How can one client be codec-agile?

You don’t have to switch codecs for everyone.
The codec you set in your clients options is changed for better
quality/compression and does not influence what others can or should set their
    clients to.
Even if you’re encoding your speech with CELT, every client will decode it
    regardless of its settings.

(You’re not about updating to 1.2 here, right?)

No, I'm about codec agility, being under the impression that speech compressed
with speex won'd decompress well with CELT or G.711. (everybody at work uses
G.711) I missed the options setting for which codec to use ... going to check.
