Hi,
I can report a constant 11% load on my Core 2 Duo T7500 in a Thinkpad T61. I have tried to modify any setting available to me, but to no avail, the load is constant. Even when disconnected from any server the load is there.

I'm running Mumble 1.2.3-2ubuntu2 on Ubuntu 11.10 and PulseAudio 1.0 and kernel 3.0.0-12 x86_64.

Mumble always has the audio input active to train the noise filter and AGC, so you will always see light load. 11% is a bit excessive though. The number includes load caused by the audio driver and processing chain, so make sure your settings in there are alright.

Try to change the sample rate of the PulseAudio daemon to 48kHz (in /etc/pulse.conf), the default sample rate of 44,1kHz forces Mumble to resample which is not free.

I have configured my settings in all the ways I can think of, but it changes nothing. This load is something that I've never seen on Windows but seems to exist on every Linux install that I've had as far as I remember.

@pcgod The file seemed to be /etc/pulse/daemon.conf and I changed default-sample-rate to 48000. After rebooting Mumble now stays on a stable 15%.
