Created Project

Created Sourceforge project today.
So far this site only contains the functional spec.

I've worked as a Unix System Administrator for over 20 years for many different companies, and I have found this kind of tool very useful for cross OS flavour ( eg: Linux, SunOS, AIX, HP-UX) shell-scripting, and as a memory aid.

I'm out of contract of the moment so I'm taking this opportunity to learn about Sourceforge and its various tools and features.
I do have other projects in mind for Sourceforge but I thought mulops would be a good project to start with as the idea is VERY simple.

mulops is unuasual in that the code that people will really be interested in is abstracted out to the "mulops catalogue", which is really a type of configuration file.
mulops is merely a tool that extracts the approprate ( based on current OS flavour and version ) commands from the catalogue and executes, or optionally displays, them.

I do have my own shell-script version of the code that I will upload soon, but I intend to write another version in perl and to invite others to write their own versions in other languages.

Although I have only coded a version for use on a few Unix flavours I do not see why the tool could be used on non-Unix operating systems. Wouldnt it be great to know that you could easily find out how much memory was installed under any operating system ( Unix, Windows etc ) by simply typing "mulops memory" rather than having to remember seperate command for each one ?
