The instant mental image is a flaming red fox in motion. The name connotes both excitement and cleverness. It even includes a plosive sound, the x. You can't get much better. If Firefox were called Muffin, would it have been so successful? Doug -- Doug Porter dougporter@... |

Muffin is a great piece of software. I don't know of any alternative that even comes close, and I use it daily. But it's pretty clear that it isn't under active development. I think that may be for a reason no one talks about. The name. It's hard to persuade anyone that a project called "Muffin" is as good as it is. Open source developers work largely for bragging rights. Bragging about Muffin just isn't going to happen much. Any interest in renaming this great software package to help people take it more seriously? Doug -- Doug Porter dougporter@... |

I'm not sure whether this project is under heavy/any development. I signed up about 2 months ago and their hasn't been a single mail too the list. :/ On 5/24/05, thjacobs@... <thjacobs@...> wrote: > Hi folks. Hi folks. Just downloaded muffin and have been reading through the docs and the website; it looks very cool. In particular, I have been checking out the cookie monster. Cookie monster looks like its right up the alley of what I want a proxy server for, except for one thing: I'd like to be able to store the cookies on the proxy server and add them back in on outgoing requests. What I'm trying to do is let multiple people browse the web together and see the same pages. However the problem with this is that if one user enters account information and everyone is seeing that person's account, I don't want people to be able to come back to this later. Hence I want to store the cookies sent back and forth on the proxy server, not on the client boxes. Does that make sense? I see the report method in cookie monster. I was hoping to record cookies and then reattach them on outgoing communications. Is it possible with muffin? I know I need to be very very careful with this kind of thing, but please send along any comments along that line also if you have any. |
