You may download it using the following URL: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=4626 Release 1.3.12 of the stable version of MTX fixes a problem when UNIT ATTENTION is pending when mtx is started. This can occur if the door is opened on some libraries or the SCSI bus is reset. The change eliminates the requirement to rerun the mtx command. The unsupported program nsmhack is no longer built by default or included in any of the binary packages. It is still included in the source tar and can be built manually using 'make nsmhack'. Debian packaging support has been added. A big change in this release is that binary builds are released for the most common Linux distributions and FreeBSD. There are builds for the latest version of each, as well as the one or two previous versions. I will be monitoring the versions of MTX included in each distribution and removing them from SourceForge as they are included as part of the standard distribution. If you don't see the binary package available on SourceForge check your Operating System vendor for updates. Robert Nelson MTX Project Maintainer |

Version 1.3.11 has just been released to SourceForge. You may download it using the following URL: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=4626 Release 1.3.11 of the development version of MTX adds a new utility "scsieject". This utility is used to send the commands: load, unload, start, stop, lock and unlock to media transfer devices. These commands may be required by some devices prior to unloading media or after loading new media using mtx. The loaderinfo utility has been enhanced to provide more information about the supported transfer and exchange operations. The mtx utility has been enhanced to support the "previous" command to unload the current medium and load the one in the next lower storage slot. Also problems with the "last" command have been fixed. Fixes for all known bugs and feature suggestions have been incorporated. Also included are the patches from the Debian and FreeBSD distributions. A bug that caused loaderinfo to incorrectly indicate that the EAAP (Element Address Assignment Page) was not supported on a significant number of loaders is fixed. This bug prevented mtx from determining the correct information about the number of storage, import/export, or data transfer elements. This release will be promoted to stable providing no issues are reported. Robert Nelson MTX Project Maintainer |

ftp://ftp.estinc.com/pub/unsupported/mtx-1.2.12pre2.tar.gz Fixes to HP/UX support (probably still does not compile, alas, but getting closer), and to the RPM .spec file, as well as having the new ReadElementStatus() routine and FreeBSD and IRIX tpyo fixes that mtx-1.2.12pre1.tar.gz had. I've also tweaked the documentation somewhat, though there is one entry that I need to add to the FAQ (the FAQ "Why doesn't mtx work on Red Hat 7.0?"). Still TODO before we can have a release mtx-1.2.12: Verify proper operation on Solaris. I've had one report that it does not work on Solaris. I can't duplicate that on my Solaris 8 box, but I'd like more data points. -- Eric Lee Green er...@es... In the usual place, ftp://ftp.estinc.com/pub/unsupported . I'd especially appreciate it if you could test out the .spec file for building RPM's, I think I have it running, but ... I have also added a FAQ and COMPATIBILITY list. I'm sure nobody will read them, but at least we can say "Read the FAQ!" :-). If anybody has submissions for the FAQ or COMPATIBILITY list, please send them to myself or to the list. Current game plan: You've given me some new features to add to mtx, but I decided it's important to get a stable mtx 1.2.10 out first prior to starting to chew into it again. Thus if the above snapshot works, I'll go ahead and christen it as mtx 1.2.10 and start on a mtx 1.2.11 that has the new features that have been requested. -- Eric Lee Green er...@es... mtx 1.2.8 pre 1 is now available at the usual place ( ftp://ftp.estinc.com/pub/unsupported ). This is a test pre-release, but should be reliable and stable (the changes are very minimal). Sooner or later we need to start thinking about making a mtx 1.9 (pre 2.0), with some of the major changes that have been discussed.... as I've mentioned earlier, I don't want to change mtx 1.2 very much beyond how it currently works, due to the fact that we need a reliable, stable version of 'mtx'. -- Eric Lee Green er...@es...
