As I write this http://mt-daapd.sourceforge.net redirects me to http://www.mt-daapd.org/ which shows me a BuyDomains.com domain purchase page. mt-daapd.org resolves to 69.43.160.175 for me. I didn't notice any posts about this on the user or devel mailing lists, so I thought it would be appropriate to raise this issue. Thanks for mt-daapd! |

Hi there, I have mt-daapd running on my edge box, in this case the ubuntu server. I am running a firewall on it. But even with the firewall Off I am unable to see the box getting advertised. Therefore itunes on my other machines are not able to see the server. Could somebody suggest ways to troubleshoot this? Cheers, Noah |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 After much inattention to mt-daapd due to changing jobs and other things, I'm pleased to say that I'm working on mt-daapd again. Yay. I would be pleased if you would help test the cvs code to get it into shape for a 0.2.1 release. If checking out from cvs is a pain (and it is!), nightly snapshots are available here: http://www.pedde.com/mt-daapd. The primary feature of the 0.2.1 release will be background file system scans -- periodically, the daemon will scan the mp3_dir to see if there are new mp3 files added or deleted, and update connected iTunes clients appropriately. This is implemented in current cvs, as well as the most recent snapshot. The config file directive that controls the background scanning interval is called (not surprisingly) scan_interval. More details on it can be found in contrib/mt-daapd.conf. Other changes since 0.2.0: * Thanks to David Berry and some of the folks in the Roku forums, mt-daapd implements browse and query support -- this is for embedded music devices with low memory (like the Roku SoundBridge) to browse the music database without having to pull the whole database into memory. Search support still needs to be implemented. * Support for more AAC tags (comments, grouping, composer, bpm, etc) * Support for BPM tag on .mp3 files * Support for bitrate, bpm, and date (of the mp3 file) in smart playlists * Other minor bug fixes. I would be especially pleased to hear any feedback on how the 0.2.1 snapshot works. Thanks. -- Ron -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (Darwin) iD8DBQFBR+DfDl/VbZJe82cRAl92AKD5ieJsE5C6e7IrQO/XE/4Lg+lUjQCdGJyX rbjx0NtoFNlHoM2p+c2wUnE= =lhPe -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

hey folks, I just installed mt-daapd and love it. Great work! I've run into a small snag and can't seem to find much information in the documentation - when I create a new smart playlist following the format in the playlist file, the new playlist isn't shown in iTunes, even after restarting both mt-daapd and iTunes - I even tried recreating the mt-daapd cache as well. Can someone shed some light on this? thanks arif |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Okay. I've pushed out The Official Packages for 0.2.0. They should be up on sourceforge even as you are reading this. Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

So if you put up a bad package or something, you can't delete the package. So I wanted to host them somewhere lower traffic so I could see problems with the packages before a *ton* of people downloaded, say, a buggy package. In any case, I have to get something posted to sourceforge quickly. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (Darwin) iD8DBQFAkQa7Dl/VbZJe82cRAry1AJ9hvx1UOYIZ58V2xAsjl86kcw1rNACgj1sd kQF9R08MX8+ZRhgaI78do8Q= =/pJh -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --This message has been scanned by MailScanner, SPAMAssassin, and Clamav and on mail.btkmedic.com for Viruses and is believed to be clean. |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 As you've probably already figured out, iTunes 4.5 breaks mt-daapd. Fixes to make it work are now in CVS. Sourceforge anon CVS had been lagging quite far behind developer cvs, so you might avail yourself from the freshly minted cvs snapshot at http://www.pedde.com/mt-daapd/ The only other changes from the 0.2.0-pre1 snapshot is fixes for malformed mp3 files. Anyone experiencing stability problems, or problems with large databases might be addressed by this snapshot as well. It Works For Me (tm), but I'd appreciate feedback on your experience. Thanks. -- Ron p.s. I think it's probably important to have an official release that works with iTunes 4.5, so this will very likely become the 0.2.0 release. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (Darwin) iD8DBQFAkEkeDl/VbZJe82cRAnXPAJ99B/iO5VolQ7/jgxAZO0vsdaRHYgCg4jYx OwIz1yJUig4PO0533BSSyXA= =k01s -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --This message has been scanned by MailScanner, SPAMAssassin, and Clamav and on mail.btkmedic.com for Viruses and is believed to be clean. |

Hi, I don't know If you had tried it, but mt-dappd appears broken in the new itunes (4.5) I'm using mandrake 10 CE for the server, and Mac OS X 10.3.3 in the mac, also I'm using the CVS version (the one with the artwork code),and I't doesn't connect, it only moves the cursor to the library, like a timeout or something, but it's less than a second. :( i'm gonna try other things, but I cant make it work. good work by the way!!! greetings from mexico !! polozero. |
