#6 can't compile

redhat7 glibc 2.2
gcc 2.95 (compiled with a special glibc2.2 patch)
configure doesn't say special things except that makeinfo isn't found, gonna try to install that one.

hope to get an answer because I would like to see something happen in my taskbar when new hotmail.com mail arrives!
