Mserv should be able to communicate with different
Instant messenging (sp?) networks. If a user leaves
his / her computer, their ratings should be ignored
until they become active again.

Possibly Jabber (www.jabber.org) support would be the
most readily accessible. Jabber's cross-protocol
support is implemented on the server side, so this way
mserv wouldn't have to be constantly updated to keep up
with changes in IM protocols.

Note however that I don't have any personal experience
with Jabber, so it may very well suck (although I don't
think so but that's just a guess).
