So I was playing around with MrViewer 5.0.1 and discovered that you could hold control and drag on the image to adjust the Gain. Awesome! Super useful for people like me who like to hide the toolbars and just do things with keyboard shortcuts.

Unfortunately, when dragging, it doesn't change the exposure enough - the sensitivity needs to be higher for this to be useful.

Maybe the Gain control could be switched to an exposure control that adjusts the gain in pow(2, exposure) increments instead? Or maybe the sensitivity of the grad could be increased?

I would love a keyboard shortcut to adjust gamma and also saturation in this same way. Maybe Ctrl+drag adjusts exposure, Ctl+Shift+drag adjusts gamma, or Ctrl+alt+drag adjusts saturation? Or maybe it could be a keyboard shortcut driven toggle. So for example, maybe you tap "e" and can drag left or right to adjust exposure. "g"+drag for gamma. "s" + drag for saturation, etc. Just brainstorming, not sure what would be the easiest to implement.

While I'm on the subject of adjusting the look of the image: another thing that would be really useful to have would be a way to reset all adjustments that have been done to the image. This could be a shortcut that would reset all color to default values. Maybe we could add a way to click on the gain and gamma and reset the sliders as well - maybe Ctrl+click? Maybe clicking next to the slider?

Thanks for listening! Here's a screen recording I did to better explain the problem and the idea:

The next version of mrViewer will be more sensitive to changing the gain.

In v5.0.2, the Gain (CTRL+Drag) is much more sensitive. And Ctrl+Shift+Drag adjusts gamma.

Thanks very much for the improvements and the fast turnaround! I've tested it out and the changes are working well.

For the gain adjustment, I still find it to be a bit problematic.

Because the adjustment is gain and not exposure, the amount that the brightness of the image changes is much more extreme from 0 to 1 than above 1. And since the drag adjustment is a linear scale which goes below 0, it is very easy to mess up and go way too dark with a tiny drag.

Would it be possible to make the gain adjustment an exposure adjustment instead, that maybe had a default range of +5 to -5 stops? ( pow(2, exposure ) - I think this would provide a more intuitive adjustment of brightness values in the image.

Also it would still be great to get some way to reset the image adjustments with a shortcut or a way of resetting the gain / gamma values in the interface.

    Thanks for listening!

I've made the adjustment work in pow increments now. I also added a reset changes (shift+c) hotkey.

This is working great in v5.0.5.

Thanks very much, I am happy! :)
