I think I heard of one person trying to backport it, but nothing ever came
of it.

Hello Chip,
I tried to port mpls to kernel 2.2.17 some month ago, so
if you are interested in it I'll send you patch.

A month ago I sent the same patch to Jim with petition
to put it in yours ftp site, but probably my letter was loosed.

I must have deleted it by accident, because I do not have th patch.
If you re-send it I'll post it to the ftp site, eventually integrate
it into the mpls-linux package.
