Hello everybody, I want to create a LSP within 3 computers. A------B-------C A's IP: 192.168.2.1, eth0 B's IP towards A: 192.168.2.2, eth1 B's IP towards C: 192.168.3.1, eth0 C's IP: 192.168.3.2, eth1 On A: route add -host 192.168.2.2 gw 192.168.2.2 mplsadm -A -O gen:16:eth0:ipv4:192.168.2.2 mplsadm -B -O gen:16:eth0 -f 192.168.2.2/32 mplsadm -L eth0:0 On C: route add -host 192.168.3.1 gw 192.168.3.1 mplsadm -A -O gen:17:eth1:ipv4:192.168.3.1 mplsadm -B -O gen:17:eth1 -f 192.168.3.1/32 mplsadm -L eth1:0 On B: mplsadm -A -B -I gen:16:eth1 mplsadm -A -B -I gen:17:eth0 I want to meassure the traffic using ethereal on mashine A or C. In the next step I'd like to include LDP also. If this works I want to add a 4th computer parallel to B and do some meassuring. I hope somebody can give me some advice. Thank you in advance. Hello everybody, my MPLS network now works using mplsadm (thank you James R. Leu). Now I want to add LDP. I have the following setup: /----B----\ A D \----C----/ A's IP towards B xxx.xxx.2.10 A's IP towards C xxx.xxx.4.10 B's IP towards A xxx.xxx.2.20 B's IP towards D xxx.xxx.3.10 C's IP towards A xxx.xxx.4.20 C's IP towards D xxx.xxx.5.10 D's IP towards B xxx.xxx.3.20 D's IP towards C xxx.xxx.5.20 I have 4 LSP established from A to D via B (gen labels 10 for A to D and 20 for D to A) and A to D via C (gen labels 30 for A to D and 40 for D to A). All mashines have the LDP portable installed and it's running. My problem is, that I don't know how to configure the ldp protable correctly, so I'd be able to see something if I measure the traffic using ethereal on a fifth mashine. Could anybody help me? Thnak you in advance. (www.zebra.org> If so, grab the most recent version of zebra from CVS and grab the most recent version of LDP portable from CVS and you can build ldp-portable to run with zebra. It's still very beta, but it works :-) If not, you can still use ldp-portable (ldp_linux) you will just have to use it's clunky interface. hi jim, thanks for your prompt reply i will check it now regards lonka First get the latest version from CVS. http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=15443 Second make sure you have the correct routes added to the linux routing table and that LDP know about them: prompt> show route Turn on LDP tracing to see more of what is happening: prompt> set trace 0xffffffff Look in the READMEs for more 'show' commands. Hello I have the version 2.4.5 of Linux kernel. How can I enable MPLS support on it. I tried using the mpls-2.4.0-test11.diff patch on this but it did not work completely on this version ( Is there a different patch for 2.4.5 kernel ). I do not get Multi-protocol label switching option by doing make menuconfig. Any pointers what to do. TIA Nomit |

Hallo, I have Red Hat Linux 7.1 and the linux-mpls (v0.993) Patch. Did Linux-mpls Patch support dynamic label distribution between PC? Or I must install fixed label for MPLS? Bye Jens -- GMX - Die Kommunikationsplattform im Internet. http://www.gmx.net |

Hi All, This is regarding implementing "MPLS support of Diffserv" in current LDP code of James. I did go through the extension implemented by people at Intec. Last I saw, it had E-LSP support using RSVP. And the way they implemented it was by having changing the mpls label and by changing the key to store label to include the exp as well. But this approach does not supports L-LSP. Also I could not figure out how and where they were handling the Diffserv context associated with the LSP. What I was interested in knowing was 1) Will it not be a better idea to store the entire diffserv context associated with a LSP in one in_info entry in radix tree. Any other suggestions on how exactly to implement EXP support is deeply appreciated. Regards Mrugendra __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! I will be posting mpls-linux-1.1.tar.gz soon, which has a lot of integration for E-LSPs L-LSP and hooks to DSCP. I hope to post more about this tomorrow morning. Hi James, I am still waiting :-) for your mail about how have you/or planning to implement Diffserv support in mpls-linux. If I could have some idea about mpls-linux with diffserv then i can start coding LDP for diffserv TLV's. Also please if you could write some thing about my CR-LDP mail. I am specifically interested in having atleast the support of traffic TLV in existing code somehow. This will help demonstrate BW reservation and QoS aspects of mpls traffic engg. Hi All, I was wondering if any one has tested Downstream on Demand Ordered Control on the current LDP code of James. Is there any way in current code to support the requirement of CR-LDP i.e. to have DoD Ordered Control to be infered from existance of any TLV defined in CR-LDP. Since the present code fixes the control and distribution at startup. If anybody can help about how we can map Label request Procedure defined in LDP Spec & CR-LDP section 3 to present LDP code. Also James if you could pls briefly write about mpls-linux 1.1 Regards Mrugendra --- "James R. hi Mrugendra, Few days back we worked with LDP code version 0.060 and are able to establish Downstream on demand Ordered LSP (by changing the options accordingly and rebuilding ldp_linux executable). In the process we feel few fixes are needed to the present code. they are While adding new route using add_route() in ldp_linux.c instead of dest->next_hop.u.ipv4 = ntohl(inet_addr(net_str)); use dest->next_hop.u.ipv4 = ntohl(inet_addr(nh_str)); while preparing attributes for a new route added using Recognize_new_fec() r_attr is NULL and thus causing segmentation fault in Prepare_Label_Request_Attributes (ldp_label_request.c). We went for a quick fix by setting s_attr fields to 1 whenever r_attr is NULL. After doing the two fixes try establish LDP sessions and add route in LDP at INGRESS. You should be able to establish DoD ordered LSP successfully. pl. give yr feedback.... Thanks, Mouli. --- Singhai <mru...@ya...> wrote: > Hi All, > > I was wondering if any one has tested Downstream on > > Demand Ordered Control on the current LDP code of > > James. > > Is there any way in current code to support the > requirement of CR-LDP i.e. to have DoD Ordered > Control > to be infered from existance of any TLV defined in > > CR-LDP. We have configured host A staticaly and not using LDP.A should think B is MPLS enabled , but actualy it is not. So A should send mpls packets to B. Is my guess correct? Hi, I have downloaded the mpls-1.0 patch and applied it on Red hat 7.1 , kernel -2.4.7. It got compiled successfully but when I booted from the mpls image , it does not start the interface "eth0". While if again I try to boot it from the original image , I can see the interface "etho" working. Please clarify. Thanks and Regards Jagdish |

Problem is there with the network card drivers, if you have compiled them as modules look for the modules path. Else u shd compile the sources for the network card drivers inside the kernel (to check which network card you are using do a 'lsmod' and locate the installed module.) And compile its sources with the kernel sources of the patched-mpls sources. -abhijit Jagdish Garg wrote : >Hi, >I have downloaded the mpls-1.0 patch and applied it on Red hat 7.1 , >kernel -2.4.7. >It got compiled successfully but when I booted from the mpls image , it >does not start the interface "eth0". > >While if again I try to boot it from the original image , I can see the >interface "etho" working. Please clarify. > > >Thanks and Regards > >Jagdish > > >_______________________________________________ >mpls-linux-general mailing list >mpl...@li... >https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/mpls-linux-general > -- How do u delete a letter in vi and paste it after the next one? I'd just like at add one more point, if you do have an modules configured in the kernel, make sure to do a 'make modules' and 'make modules_install' I agree with Abhijit though, you need to figure out wht driver your ethernet card uses and compile it into the kernel. hi,all Can the ldp_portable work without mpls-linux? I have tried this between to PCs,but not until I modified the port from 646 to 8000 ,each PC can't received the UDP hello message from other, the two PCs is connected by ethernet . I tried to use the cmd:add peer 192.168.199.167(IP ADDRESS of the other PC),my PC send the HELLO MSG to 192.168.199.167:646.But received the ICMP message:the port is unreachable. Can i must modified the kernal file : /etc/service ane /etc/xinetd.conf to solve the problem? If so ,how can i do this? all thanks!! |

Ports below 1023 are can only be used by root. Run ldp_linux as root and you sjould have no problem. Did you grab ldp-portable via CVS? If not, you're wasting your time. The kernel config is the .config file in the top level linux source directory. It is produced when you do a 'make menuconfig'. You sould make sure that you have the same .config for the old and new kernels. > if i boot through the normail kernel all works fine... > but now so with the kernel with MPLS-Linux. It's not related to the mpls-linux code, its related to the kernel config you used to build the mpls-linux enable kernel.
