Hi, I can't get the mpls support in a vanilla linux kernel 2.6.35. I got all the files from http://repo.or.cz/?a=project_list&s=mpls|jleu I applied the patch for 2.6.35 found on the devel list. (fix broken last filename) But there is no updated version of mpls-linux. $ make menuconfig $ grep -i mpls .config CONFIG_MPLS=m CONFIG_MPLS_TUNNEL=m CONFIG_IP_MPLS=m CONFIG_INET6_MPLS=m CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_TARGET_MPLS=m But I can't figure out how to fill the blanks. ebtables won't work because of missing mpls-enabled-kernel-side ebtables which is supposed to be in mpls-linux/src but make will fail because of missing autoconf.h then because of not-matching prototypes (net_device vs mpls_interface among others things). Is there any *up-to-date* resource explaining how to get the mpls support from scratch ? Is it working at all ? I'd like to validate the support by testing this: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/mpls-linux/index.php?title=Examples Is it still relevant ? Anthony. |

Hi guys, I have installed mpls Linux on kernel with the RPM packages for fc10, and I’m using the ldp portable on quagga for mpls signaling. The problem I’m having is related with ldpd and zebra deamon on quagga. LDP sessions are established with success, but when it receives label mappings the zebra deamon crashes (see logs below). Ldpd deamon doesn’t crash but I can see a broken pipe happening. I believe this is caused by zebra crash. Does anyone can help me? Hi, You can try "ip route help" which gives you the following, or type man ip route on any linux box. Hello all, I know it has been way too long since I've posted to these lists which is one of the reasons why I am posting tonight. Since the birth of my first daughter in 2005, I have not been able to devote any time to maintaining mpls-linux and as a result much of mpls-linux has fell into disrepair. Recently there has been a flurry of mpls-linux activity, so I know there are people out there using/developing mpls-linux. I'd like to find one or two volunteers who will be willing take an active role in maintaining mpls-linux. To me this means: - track changes to mainline kernel and quagga to keep mpls-linux up to date - build releases in timely manor - co-ordinate development efforts on the lists - gather and integrate patches - re-engage with mainline kernel and quagga developers to discuss possible integration of mpls-linux All interested parties should send me a private email. I will wait until July 16th to make any decisions. At that time I hope to send a joint email with the new maintainer(s) providing the details of how mpls-linux will be maintained going forward. -- James R. Leu jl...@mi... |

Hello Generally, The Linux kernel have two separate queues for MPLS forwarding (Label Switching) and IP routing. In the case, when both queues (MPLS and IP routing) are full due to congestion, if a new packet come in both queues; then: Which queue will be treated on higher priority? or they will have same priority? -- Thanks and Regards, Maneesh Soni. To: Leucio Ricci <leu...@gm...> Cc: mpl...@li... Message-ID: <AAN...@ma...> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Some weeks ago I've done some tests with rudimentary VPNs, without VRFs and LDP. I have used: - command "network A.B.C.D/M rd ASN:nn_or_IP-address:nn tag WORD" to distribute vpnv4 routes - extcommunity-list and route-maps to deal with RTs; - extend bgpd daemon to automatically update the nhlfe/ilm/xc tables when receiving bgp_update messages I could interact with Cisco machines (using GNS3) with no problems, but i had to set the LSPs manually and there were no isolation (VRFs). Also, the following RFCs are already implemented on Quagga: - RFC 2842: Capabilities Advertisement with BGP-4 Standards Track; - RFC 2858: Multiprotocol Extensions for BGP-4 Standards Track; - RFC 4360: BGP Extended Communities Attribute Standards Track; - RFC 3107: Carrying Label Information in BGP-4 Standards Track (there were a label codification bug on the MP_REACH_NLRI attribute that I've already fixed); Unfortunaly, adding VRF support makes things a lot harder, however i'm working on this (extending quagga). There is still a long way to go, but most of the job is already done. I recently posted a (RFC) patch for the ip command that use named network namespaces to configure net namespaces like VRFs , using Eric Biederman's recent set of patches that allows a net namespace to get named, using the filesystem as an "anchor point". Please see: https://lists.linux-foundation.org/pipermail/containers/2010-June/024699.html (should maybe have posted to devel, but the most recent post here was talking about this very subject so...) I still work on it, i have been using myself some patches from Vivien Chappelier to have ID for netns's that I patched on top to have names too. I did the correspondig patches for ip utility too. We have been using it on our network for some years already. I have a patched Quagga too with support for this infrastructure that I am cleaning up, trying to put it in a git repository and learning git at the same time (so it is going slowly ;). I already knew about Biederman's patches and wanted to take a look at using them for Quagga as they seem to be the ones that are going to be accepted upstream. I don't have too much time now to do research but if you can sent me or point to the needed patches I'll add support in Quagga and publish it. Hi, I have installed mpls-linux 1.963 on six debian machines with kernel version 2.6.30. I ran an example run of MPLS by connecting two linux machines and having one act as ingress the other as egress router (I used all the proper mpls commands to make the tunnel by looking at examples at source forge). Now when an IP packet arrives at the ingress it pushes the label just fine (seen from tcp dump) however the egress hangs up. Could someone please help. Thanks Ahsan |

Hello everybody I am trying to test IPv6 on MPLS-Linux. But it is not working. I can ping end to end with static route.
