Hi, Downloaded the latest patch from the CVS. However, when I tried to bind a label to an FEC, an error occurred that the -f instruction is no longer supported. How then to bind to an FEC? Is the instruction set for marking of EXP bits from DSCP same as the 1.108 version? Thanks! Paul |

Hi,All, In my reading the codes of ldp-portable-0.060,I was puzzled by some data structure.I need your help. 1. what does ldp_fs(FS) refer to? 2. what do the ldp_entity,ldp_adj,ldp_session,ldp_addr,ldp_attr mean?In RFC 3036,I can not find the defination and purpose of entity, attr. To me,these structures are too complex. what is the relationship among them?I read the document "ldp_struct",but I still do know what is the purpose of them,do we need so many structure to implement ldp? Thanks for your reply. Best Regard Cheng __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Great stuff seeking new owners in Yahoo! Auctions! http://auctions.yahoo.com |

Well, you are right that there isn't a direct correlation but what I'm anticipating is that, in future there will be more protocols supported in Zebra (eg., ISIS http://isisd.sourceforge.net/) and possibly RSVP someday. That way, the mpls-linux developer community may get help from developers of other packages and as Zebra also has a significant number of users, more feedback/users of mpls-linux may be found. These are some of my thoughts and not facts that I can assert in anycase. Sanjeev |

Netlink will sent this data in via the (void*). MPLS doesn't need netlink to hold any data for it. So we do not use the (void*). Since all of the netlink functions must match the netlink prototype I have no choice but to have the (void*) argument. Yes you will need to compile the kernel. You do not need to do a 'make modules' but you do need to install the kernel once it's compiled. I'm working on a mplsd for zebra. So far I'm concentrating on 'static' LSPs and MPLS tunnel interfaces. Basically I want to provide all of the functionality of mplsadm in zebra. Eventual I would like to do more integration. Yon created a zebra porting layer for ldp-portable. After 'static' LSP support is finished I plan to move on to finishing the LDP support for zebra. Once that is in place I can try and make BGP and LDP work together to establish MPLS VPNs. That is a long way off though, simply because I don't have enough time. Although if people were will to help .... :-) Jim On Wed, Jan 23, 2002 at 08:01:27PM -0800, Sanjeev Chakravarty wrote: > > Hi Folks, > > Since mpls-linux code is fairly robust, I was wondering if there are any > thoughts of integrating it with other open source routing protocol suite > like Zebra. Hi Folks, Since mpls-linux code is fairly robust, I was wondering if there are any thoughts of integrating it with other open source routing protocol suite like Zebra. To me both the software are complementary. Some of the pros and cons: pros: 1. mpls-linux will be more versatile 2. creation of VPNs will now be possible 3. use of BGP to exchange labels needed in case of VPNs would be possible 4. RSVP-TE or other extensions of MPLS would be easier to implement cons: 1. kinda vendor specific (Cisco like) implementation 2. some dependency may arise look forward to hearing your comments, Sanjeev |

The protocols take care of advertising labels. ldp-portable is an implementation of RFC3036 (label ditribution protocol). > I met some questions in my reading codes.I will > appreciate your help very much. > 1.In the mpls_linux,How do the labels are distributed > among the ldp peers? In other words,How does the > mplsadm get to know the infor about FTN,ILM and NHLFE? > What is the relation between mpls_linux and > ldp_portable?Does mpls_linux need ldp_portable to > distribut lables? > 2.Can someone tell me the meanings of variables in the > structure mpls_printf_info?Especially the "pos". This structure is used to help in the handling of buffers used for displaying the content of the virtual files in the /proc file system. 'pos' stands for 'position', the current printing position in the virtual file. Remember that the virtual file may be larger then the buffer suplied to the *_print functions, so the *_print function will be called multiple times, with a different offset each time. '*_print' can't translate offset into 'where it left off' so the function just starts over, but the 'pos' and 'offset' are used to decide when to start filling the buffer again. > Thanks a lot. > > Best Regard > > Cheng > > > __________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Hi,All, I met some questions in my reading codes.I will appreciate your help very much. 1.In the mpls_linux,How do the labels are distributed among the ldp peers? In other words,How does the mplsadm get to know the infor about FTN,ILM and NHLFE? What is the relation between mpls_linux and ldp_portable?Does mpls_linux need ldp_portable to distribut lables? 2.Can someone tell me the meanings of variables in the structure mpls_printf_info?Especially the "pos". Thanks a lot. Best Regard Cheng __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Mail! http://promo.yahoo.com/videomail/ |

Try this: make clean make If you have the same error, recompile the kernel with support for .out binaries and MISC binaries and ELF binaries U can find them in <general setup> tag With the new kernel go to ldp-portable folder again and: make clean make Radu |

Hi all, I want to compile mpls-linux and LDP-portabel and I get linux kernel 2.4.13 and I have applied the mpls-linux patch. Now I want to configure linux kernel to turn on MPLS, but I dont underestand what is wrong?!!! I ran : make menuconfig in linux directory, but there is an error: No such file or directory make : *** no rule to make target 'arch/i386/Makefile'.stop. Thanks your help. Hi Farahmand, Assuming you installed the kernel at /usr/src/linux; Please read "README" and "Documentation/Changes". To compile mpls-linux do: "# cd /usr/src/linux" -configure Linux kernel to turn on MPLS (atleast the following) "# make menuconfig" under "Code maturity level options" turn on "Prompt for development and/or incomplete code/drivers" under "Networking Options" turn on "Kernel/User netlink socket" turn on " Routing messages" turn on "Multi-Protocol Label Switching" (do other kernel configuration) -compile and install kernel (insert a floppy disk) make dep ; make clean ; make bzImage; make modules; make modules_install; make bzdisk -reboot with the floppy diskette inserted -change directory to mpls-linux-1.0/utils/ -compile mplsadm make -----Original Message----- From: farahmand zahra [mailto:z_c...@ya...] Sent: Tuesday, January 22, 2002 9:23 PM To: mpl...@li...
