Do you want to load share from ingress LER to egress LER (packets come in IP and need to be sent down one of two LSPs) or do you want load sharing to occur in the middle of the MPLS cloud (packets come in with MP= LS shim and need to be switch down one of two LSPs)? Hi roro, > I am reading mpls-linux source code, but I encoutered problems. > is mpls_rcv invoked when a packet reach ingress LSR? If so, which > sentence invoke it ? The mpls_init function registers the Packet Type ETH_P_MPLS_UC to be received by the function mpls_rcv. So mpls_rcv is called almost immediately after the device driver calls netif_rx(). You won't find any mpls_rcv reference in the kernel, instead the registration works with the function dev_add_pack(); > And where is mpls_send invoked? mpls_send is called by mpls_output2, is called by mpls_output_shim is called by mpls_output which is stored along with the next hop info of the FIB. hi,all
I am reading mpls-linux source code, but I encoutered problems.
is mpls_rcv invoked when a packet reach ingress LSR? If so, which sentence invoke it ? And where is mpls_send invoked?
Can you tell me the detailed flow when a packet reach and leave ? It will be appreciated.
Thanks a lot

hi all
well im in the testing phase of this mpls-linux forwarding statically
when i have a scenario like this one :Setup
-----
--------- ---------
| A | | B |
--------- ---------
|eth0 |eth0
|17.130 |18.114
-----------------------------------
128.104.16.0/22
here any ways they will ping and the transfer of packets take place but how do
i know that the LSP is created and the packets use the LSP is there any
specific display of labels .......and how do i view the label swapping i
havent installed ldp ....and one more thing
i had an error using ip route add to add the lsr ie the next hop so i used
ip route add 128.104.18.114 via 128.104.17.130 on A and vice versa on B
will this work ????/help wanted urgently
thanking you in advance

looks more stable (there are some mystic things with not available nics
during startup of ospf - maybe its ulm_swicth, after a ping they are gone)
numbers of incoming/outgoig see above
all numbers are slow growing (and sometimes decreasing)

I have idea how to support it, but I know for sure it will cause things to behave badly. (as an FYI RFC3036 explicitly says it doesn't support multipath. Any solution that vendors have put in place it proprietary.) > my testsetup: > > .--------LSR_2-----------. > / \ | > / LSR_5 | > / / \ | / > / / \ | / > ----LER_1--------LSR_3 LER_7 > \ \ / | \ > \ \ / | \ > \ LSR_6 | > \ / | > '--------LSR_4-----------' > > |----------- MPLS ------------| Evil. Lets try walking before running. Simplify the topo and let me know if you still see so much instability. Eventually mplsd will be able to support this type of 'complex' topo, but I'm not there yet. Maybe with you help we can nail down some of the real troubled areas. Thanks -- James R. Leu |

sorry, i afraid i was confused too...
of course im using the latest cvs version of the ldp patch for zebra and
zebra + mplsd and latest patch for the linux kernel....

i started with a simple setup, with static routes in zebra.conf and a
simple mplsd.conf:
hostname LSR-2
password pppp
enable password pppp
!
!
mpls ldp
! trace debug
! trace event
! trace normal
! trace notification
! trace path
! trace policy
! trace state
egress connected
address-mode ldp
!
interface lo
!
interface eth1
mpls ldp
!
interface dummy0
!
interface eth2
mpls ldp
!
interface eth3
mpls ldp
!
interface eth0
!
line vty
exec-timeout 0 0
!
there was ldp traffic, but no label assigns to remote routes...
i can't reproduce this behaviour again, because i changed the setup and
use now ospfd too (without static routes) :-)
simple setup with to areas:
area 1: 1 2 7 4
area 2: 3 5 6
now i see the label information and can test them with a ping
(dumping it with a modified uml_switch), but there is a other problem:
mpls_in and mpls_out are constantly growing until around 220 and more
(peak was 682) enries for in and 35 for LER-1 - then they decrease
rapidly to something about 40...
do you have any ideas why?
which debugging output would be usefull (which config)?
btw: the systems runs very unstable (i use a while true loop for mplsd),
especially LER-7 (i set the two egress routes per script and don't use
them in zebra, ospfd, mplsd - otherwise it chrashes immediately)
my testsetup:
.--------LSR_2-----------.
/ \ |
/ LSR_5 |
/ / \ | /
/ / \ | /
----LER_1--------LSR_3 LER_7
\ \ / | \
\ \ / | \
\ LSR_6 |
\ / |
'--------LSR_4-----------'
|----------- MPLS ------------|
thx in advance,
markus

I suggest you continue down that path. When it does become time to start wokring on setting up dynamic LSPs via LDP, I suggest you start by learning how to setup LDP between two cisco routers. Then figure how to run OSPF between a cisco router and zebra, then finally add zebra+ldp into the mix. > it possible to do ethernet over MPLS on this Not at this time, but it is being worked on. > thanking u deepak -- James R. Start by getting the mpls-linux package from sourceforge and reading the README files it contains. (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3D15443) Before jumping into the world QoS with mpls-linux, make sure you understa= nd howto do QoS with linux first. mpls-linux is a implementation of MPLS forwarding for the Linux kernel. ldp-portable is an implementation of RFC3036. It has a patch that you ca= n use with zebra (http://zebra.org) to create a LDP speaker that interacts with routing. Before working with ldp-portable + zebra, make sure you know ho= w to user zebra first. On Fri, Feb 14, 2003 at 10:53:23AM +0100, e7...@ti... wrote: > Hi everybody > I'm new in this mailing list. That's true, but would just braces { .. } be sufficient for that purpose?
