Did you use ifconfig to add one?  here is what I do:

mplsadm -A -T mpls0
mplsadm -A -O gen:1024:eth1:ipv4:192.168.0.2
mplsadm -B -O gen:1024:eth1 -T mpls0
ifconfig mpls0 172.16.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.255

The IP address si use is one that is already associated with the box.
I use the managment address (LSRID).

I would like to see it.  I used the IP in IP tunnel as my example.
Maybe a mix of the two will be exactly what we need.
