Hi James, > When you really get into the guts of MPLS, it has nothing to do > with DiffServ or QoS. I was asking based on the field found in the MPLS spec that has 3 bits for QoS, and also because I got a request from someone who wants to use MPLS along with Diffserv. I'm currently using tc and it offers quite a good deal regarding traffic control. It's quite flexible and I'm sure it can do what this person is asking for. But, the name Diffserv remains as a request and I think the difference lies in the higher-level management inside a domain (or multiple) domains and the consistent way of applying a plan amongst the routers inside one or multiple domains. In other words, tc would provide the technical tool to do it inside MPLS but the higher aspect of QoS, the Diffserv management aspect, is left open. Does thsi make sense ? Thanks for any comments/sugegstions/etc... Cheers, Fred --- On Thu, 10/30/08, James R. Leu <jl...@mi...> wrote: > From: James R.
